VANCOUVER (CP) — About 100 Sikhs protesting the Indian government's decision to move the army into the Sikhs' ancestral homeland of the Punjab demonstrated outside the Indian consulate in Vancouver yesterday. Police were on hand to prevent any repeat of Monday's incident in which two sword-swinging Sikhs entered the consulate offices and smashed pictures of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and other Indian leaders.
Chanting "Down with Gandhi!" and "Gandhi is a murderer!" the Sikhs milled around outside the consulate for a few hours before dispersing in the early afternoon when the consulate agreed to relay their demands to the Indian government
