NEW DELHI (Reuter) — The Golden Temple at Amritsar reopened yesterday for the first time since troops stormed it on June 6 to crush Sikh extremists, the Press Trust of India news agency reported. All India Radio said the temple is likely to be opened in the evenings starting today. But as 12,000 pilgrims prepared to visit the Sikhs' holiest shrine, authorities reported several attacks by Sikh extremists in Punjab. In New Delhi, Prime Minister Indira Gandhi met senior members of her Cabinet to discuss the Punjab situation and assess a white paper analyzing the army's involvement in the crisis.
