Buckam Singh who died alone without his family or hardly any Sikhs in eastern Canada at the time has once again been reunited and embraced by his extended family of fellow Sikh Canadians. HIs story of valour, bravery and sacrifice for his country will now be told and retold and celebrated by generations of Sikh Canadians. Attend this important ceremony and remember our history and be a part of history.
The 2009 Buckam Singh Memorial service took place on Sunday November 8 at his grave site at Kitchener Mount Hope Cemetery. Ceremonies were conducted by Sandeep Singh Brar, Buckam Singhs biorgrapher and SikhMuseum.com Curator. Buckam Singh’s Victory medal was on display along with a guest book for people to record their messages and thoughts. A display of Sikh War Medals by military historian Gurmeet Singh explained the various medals that Sikhs were eligable for in the war.
The ceremonies lasted approximately 1 hour and included:

2 minutes of silence

During the ceremony the first wreath was laid on the behalf of the entire Sikh community by four Sikh military veterans:
Retired Captain Mohbat Singh Randhawa, 7th Sikh Regiment, Indian Army
Retired Sergeant Gurmit Singh Saroya, Indian Air Force
Retired Lt. Tarlok Singh, Indian Navy
Retired Capt. Harjit Singh Bains, Corp. of Signal Indian Army
The second wreath was laid on the behalf of current Canadian Sikh military personell which continue the legacy of Buckam Singh:
