The langer is the community kitchen that is a integral feature of every Gurdwara around the world. A free meal is available for all visitors to the Gurdwara. Prior to the official ceremony in the main Gurdwara hall, everyone enjoys tea and light snacks. While the groom sits with his mother by his side preparing for the big event ahead, in the informal atmosphere children can be seen playing together while family and friends share jokes and conversations. As per Sikh religious tradition everyone sits on the floor out of a sense of humility rather than on tables and chairs.
